Trip Information

The Chamonix Valley is a beautiful place to snowshoe, and our group trips are open to all abilities.  You don't need to have previous snowshoeing experience but you'll need to be fit enough to walk uphill at a gentle pace.  It's a great way of exploring the winter scenery, and you'll be amazed how quickly you can leave the crowds behind and experience Chamonix's backcountry away from the ski lifts.

We run a half-day Chamonix snowshoeing trip every Monday morning, and this is generally at a more relaxed pace. We run a full-day Chamonix snowshoe walk every Tuesday, and this is usually more strenuous, as we try to incorporate a summit or mountain hut so that we can enjoy some of the breathtaking views that Chamonix has to offer.

We usually do winter walks in the Chamonix valley without using the ski lifts, but sometimes the snow conditions might dictate that we go further afield, in which case a supplement may apply to cover the cost of transport.

When comparing our prices to other companies, please note that we include transport, snowshoes and avalanche saftey equipment - something that we feel is a necessity even though we stay away from avalanche terrain.

Itinerary

Half-day snowshoe walk

Examples of half-day walks include a loop above the village of Le Buet into the Bérard valley, le Chalet du Chenavier above Montroc, a trip up the Prarion summit in Les Houches, or a low-level snowshoe walk through the forests and hamlets of the valley.

Full-day snowshoe walk

Examples of full-day snowshoe walks include the wonderful Chalets de Loriaz or the Chalets de Chailloux, the Aiguillette des Posettes or the Aiguillette des Houches, or a trip up to the Refuge de la Pierre à Bérard.
